Lucknow:Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath claimed that the 19accused in the Dadri lynching are innocentafter lab reports confirmed the meat sample collected from Mohammad Akhlaq's fridge was beef, not mutton.
He also demanded that the 19 accused be freed soon. Police have arrested 19 men, including a juvenile from Bisara over the killing of Akhlaq.
"All the benefits given to Akhlaq's family should be withdrawn and they should be charged for keeping cow meat in their house," he said.
Uttar Pradesh government has said that the beef report won't have any bearing on the case. The FIR filed in the case invokes IPC sections of murder, rioting and criminal intimidation but not cow slaughter.
"A person was murdered and it should be the focus of all investigations in the case, nature of meat isn't the point of discussion here," said chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
"There was nothing suspicious found at Akhlakq's residence or his refrigerator. We all are concerned about the issue and we want that family gets justice because it was a murder," the CM said.
Akhlaq was killed and his son Danish was attacked by a mob after rumours that the family had consumed and stored beef in their house at Bishada village in Dadri in Gautam Budh Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh on September 28, 2015.
Meanwhile, father of main accused Vishal will go to police station around 4pm to get a case registered against Mohommad Akhlaq and family for cow slaughtering. Sanjay Rana, the father, is a local BJP leader in Dadri.
The meat sample collected from the house of Mohammad Akhlaq, who was lynched by a mob in Dadris Bishahra village in September last year, has been confirmed to be beef by a forensic lab in Mathura.
The latest forensic report was released to the media by the defence lawyers on Tuesday.
