Lucknow:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written aletter to Union Defence Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar, seeking permission from his ministry to complete various pending projects inLucknow.

Referring three matters to the minister, Mr. Yadav has alsoexpressed hope that with the cooperation of the Defence Ministry, theseprojects would be completed at the earliest. In his letter, the ChiefMinister has pointed out that various projects have been set rolling inthe state capital for its comprehensive development and for benefit of thepeople but with matters pending with the Defence Ministry, problemsare being faced to complete these projects.

Drawing the attention of the Union Minister, the Chief Minister has further written that keeping in view the growing population and thetraffic pressure in the city, a letter had been written to him on February13, 2015 and on December 17, 2013 to his predecessor, to sort out adispute over making of a road at Kukrail drain for construction of aperipheral road and a bridge.

He pointed out that the district administration and the stategovernment has, time and again making requests to the Union DefenceMinistry but to no avail. In case prompt approval is given by theministry, work on the road and bridge can be expedited and completedfor benefit of the people, the Chief Minister has said in his letter. 2 Mr. Yadav also referred another matter to the Union Minister with regards to construction of a six-lane wide 4.180 km under-constructionflyover/underpass bridge, of which 2.55 km part has been completedlong ago, but the remaining work is pending owing to absence of'operational' clearance from the army. With regards to this, the ChiefMinister pointed out, request letters have been sent on June 12, 2013,August 5, 2013, 19 August 2013 and August 19, 2014 from senior officialsof the government and on March 11, 2015 by him.

But with no 'working permission' from the army this project is not complete. He also requested Mr. Parrikar to expedite permission to thisproject. He also drew the attention of the minister to another naggingissue - construction of a 260.68 metre long bridge between Dilkusha andJaneshwar Mishra park on Gomti river (Pipraghat), 40 per cent of whichis complete.

With regards to this, the Chief Minister pointed out, request letters have been sent by the concerned officials on July 4, 2015 and August 31,2015 and by him on November 02, 2015 but with 'working permission'not being given by the Army, work here too is incomplete. Attachingrelevant copies of the previous requests made, the Chief Minister hasrequested the Union Minister to get the necessary approvals andcooperation from his ministry so that people of Lucknow can bebenefited.
