Mumbai:�Actor Shahid Kapoor, who will be seen playing rockstar Tommy Singh in his forthcoming film �Udta Punjab�, says he is �enjoying� this phase of his career and feels good that he is getting chance to portray varied characters.
From drugs to alcohol, Shahid will be seen authenticating the after-effects of all these substances on celluloid in �Udta Punjab� through his character. In real life, Shhahid refrains from consuming even alcohol because of religious beliefs.
Many Bollywood celebrities have appreciated his role over social media.
�Through Tommy Singh I have explored a new space in my journey as an actor. I am enjoying this phase of my career where I am getting to play varied set of characters that are extremely interesting,� Shahid said in a statement.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, �Udta Punjab� also stars Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
The film highlights the issue of rampant drug abuse among youth in Punjab. It features Alia as a migrant Bihari labourer, Kareena as a doctor who is determined to fight the illegal transportation of drugs, and Diljit as a police officer.
The film is slated to release on June 17. (IANS)
