Babri Masjid demolition case: Court frames 'criminal conspiracy charges against saffron leaders LK Advai, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and others

Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party veterans LK Advani, Murli Manohar Johi and other nine other saffron leaders accused in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case has been summed by a special CBI court in Lucknow on Tuesday.
The charges were framed under section 120B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the Indian penal Code.
This comes after the court rejected the defence council's "discharge application" in which accused leaders pleaded saying they had no role in the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.
Earlier in the day, the court granted bail to saffron leaders on personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each.
Other accused who appeared before the court were BJP MP Vinay Katiyar, Sadhvi Titambara, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, Ramjanamboomi Trust chief Nritya Gopal Das, Ram Vilas Vedanti, Baikunth Lal Sharma alias Prem Ji, Champat Rai Bansal, Bharma as and Satish Pradhan.
All of them were named in the FIR filed after the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6,1992 for allegedly instigating the mob and conspiracy behind the razing of the disputed structure.
A CBI court however, dropped all conspiracy charges against the accused saffron leaders in 2001 an the Allahabad high court unheld the judges in 2010. But the supreme court on , on April 19, 2017, revived the conspiracy charges and directed the special CBI court to frame charges within a month from the date of production of the order before it.
