New Delhi: In a survey done by Union Human Resource Development (MHRD) today, IISc (Indian Institute of Science) Bangalore leads with top position among 100 best university announced by centre today.
Despite with all the controversies Delhi JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) ranks as in sixth number and University of Jadavpur ranked as in 12th number in the university rankings done by MHRD today. The both JNU and jadavpur University got the rankings for good work done by the students not for the anti raising slogans for Afzal Guru, after releasing the list of universities HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said this. Last year a protest was organised by the student of JNU against hanging of Afzal Guru 2013, that drew charges of sedition on some of its students.And on Jadavpur University some rival group of students clashes over the screening of a political film.
The ranking of 100 institutes was conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) which comes under the MHRD. lncluding IISc, eight institutes from Karnataka found a place among the top 100. Of other top institutions, Uttar Pradesh's Banaras Hindu University was ranked at number 10th, Aligarh Muslim University was on 19 and Rajasthan's Birla Institute of Technology & Science (Pilani) came in at number 21.
The ranking was decided on the basis of teaching-learning-resources, research-professional practice-collaborative performance, graduation outcomes and outreach of an educational institution.
