Bhopal: Eight passengers were injured in a blast caused by bursting a tube light in the last coach of a passenger train near Kalapipal, around 80km west of Bhopal on Tuesday morning.
There were two seriously hurt passengers who have been referred to Bhopal. Two teenage girls and a women are among the injured.
The tube light burst with a loud noise and splinters fell mainly on one person which left him bleeding said an eye witness. The person sitting next to him was also injured.
The loud noise created panic as passengers mistook it for a bomb blast and rushed to jump out of the train, creating a stampede like situation in which five people were injured. All the passengers injured in the accident have been admitted to Kalapipal hospital. The damaged coach was detached at Jabri station.
According to the railway PRO in Indore there was disruption in train movement for around an hour.
