Dehradun: Hours after Central rule was lifted in Uttarakhand and Harish Rawat was back as chief minister, the 69-year-old politician in an exclusive interview to TOI said Mayawati's help in the floor test proved crucial (her two MLAs supported Rawat) and the Congress could tie up with the BSP in next year's UP polls against `common enemy' BJP . Most development and welfare measures initiated by our government virtually came to a halt after the state government was toppled. Our foremost task will be to resume these schemes.

Apart from this, reviving the economy, especially in the hill districts of Chamoli, Rudrapryag, Pauri, Tehri, Bageshwar, Pithoragar, Almora, Nainital and Champawat to stop migration of people to the plains will be a priority. Efforts will be made to increase the growth rate from 14% to 17%.
