New Delhi: After India now its neighboring country Pakistan have started embracing the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). The Election Commission of Pakistan was never in a mood to go for a complete switch over to EVMs from paper ballot. " The reports coming from India have furthered their concerns." The recent turmoil between the Bharataya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition, following the EVM tampering case in the just concluded assembly elections.
"The scandal of EVMs hounding the recent Indian elections is a timely forewarning for the ECP to desist form a complete switchover from existing paper ballots systems to the desired EVM," a Pakistani daily said.
Speaking about the Pakistani poll panel parties, it said: "In their internal meetings, there is a consensus in the ECP that Pakistan should initially restrict itself from piloting projects under the EVM system.
The Pakistani political party, namely the Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf, particularly wants the 2018 elections to be held with EVMs, while controversy in India has now this doubtful.
