BSF Jawan Tej Bhadur shifed not under arrest

NEW DELHI: Tej Bahadur Yadav has been shifted to 80th battalion at Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district and is not under arrest. The Mistery of hoime Affair's informed the court on Friday.

The court also directed that Yadav's wife be allowed to meet him over the weekend in Samba. The next hearing in the case is on February 15. Bahadur's wife had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court saying they have no idea of his whereabouts.

Ms Sharmila Yadav , wife of the BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav filed a habeas corpus petition in the court on Thursday, claiming that her husband was untraceable, and apprehended that he was in illegal detention. She prayed that he be produced before the court.

A bench headed by Justice G.S. Sistani asked the Center as to why can it not allow her to meet husband if she has some apprehensions, however big or small they may be.

"How can your officers be so insensitive? Why can the women not meet her husband," said Justice Sistani.

BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav had posted a video on January 9 on Facebook which showed a meal box comprising a watery soup-like dal, which he said had only turmeric and salt and a burnt chapatti .

He claimed that this is what the jawnas were served at mealtime on duty at places including the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan and that jawans often went to bed on empty stomach.

Pursuant the video going viral on the social media , the Prime Minister's Office had sought a detailed information on it from the Union Home Ministry and BSF. Also a PIL was filed to the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the government to depute higher officers to supervise cooking of proper healthy food and its distribution.

Meanwhile , Ms Sharmila Yadav's council Manish Tiwari said that the court should give an undertaking that he is not under arrest. He said his Voluntary Retirement scheme (VRS) too has been canceled.

When contacted, ex-paramilitary Personnel welfare Association general secretary Ranbir Singh said that , Tej Bhadur Yadav will meet her wife Sharmila and her elder brother at Samba where arrangements will be made for her stay for two nights. BSF Director general had assured them that a "fair inquiry as per procedure" will be conducted in the case.
