CBI raids Delhi Secretariat office over irregular spendings on hospital security

Tahlka News Bureau

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raid at the Delhi Secretariat including six other places on Thursday, in which Rs 10 crore of irregular spending was marked on security of Delhi hospitals by former Heath Secretary Tarun Seem, a close aide to Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Seem's office and residence was searched by a CBI team for documents containing contract for hiring three security agencies.

"The raid was conducted following of Rs 10 crore misappropriation of Delhi government funds," said an officer.

CBI has registered a case against Seem, also close to Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain and three security firms, the official said.

Seem, an IRS officer, was earlier appointed health secretary by the AAP government. But the decision was overturned by the Lt. Gov. Najeeb Jung because only an IAS officer is fit to serve for the job of secretary to the government.

Later, Seem was appointed as director of heath services of Delhi in the Kejriwal government.

"Irregularities were confirmed in the engagement of three private agencies for security in the emergency areas of Delhi government hospitals," the official said.
