New Delhi: A Delhi court convicted underworld don Chota Rajan for allegedly creating fake passport of him self with the help of three government officials on Monday.
Charges against Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan were framed allegedly procuring a fake passport in the name of Mohan Kumar with the help of these three government officials.
An earlier report by a special CBI court had also framed charges an put on trail three retired public service personnel, who had aided the gangster.
Till date, this is the first case in which Chota Rajan, who is facing around 70 cases, has been held guilty.
The court on 8 june 2016, framed charges against Chhota Rajan and Jayashree Dattaray RAHATE, Deepak Natvarlal Sahah and Lalitha Lakshmanan under sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with criminal conspiracy, cheating, cheating by impersonation and forgery of documents.
The CBI in its chargesheet has mentioned that Chhota Rajan got issued a fake passport from Bangaluru in 12998-99 Rahate,Shah and Lakshmanan in the name of Mohan Kumar.
The court has directed of taking the three into custody until 25 April. The court will also hear argument on quantum of sentence on Tuesday.
From murder to extortion, smuggling and drug trafficking, Rajan has been involved in over 85 cases. He has over 70 cases pending against him in Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, apart from those filed by the CBI. He was held held by the Indonesian police on 25 October, 2015, was deported to India on 6 November, 2015.
The Gangster has been currently locked in Tihar jail and the other three are out on bail.
