JAMMU: Another cowardly ceasefire violation by the Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) is responsible for taking lives of a couple at Karmara village in Poonch sector on Saturday morning. The Pakistani troops fired mortar shells on forward Indian posts when one of the shell pierced through a house where the couple, Mohammad Showkat and his wife Safia Bi lived. Both died on the spot.
Last week Pakistani troops fired mortar shells and small arms in Bhimber Gali (BG) sector on June 30.
The firing started from across the LoC at 6:30, a defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said Pakistani troops were resorting to "unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from small arms, automatics and mortars". The Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively," he added.
Earlier last week, a women was killed and some cattle killed on mortar shelling by Pakistan in Balakote sector of Poonch district on June 30. Identified as Naseem Akhtar, 35, was sitting inside her house when a shell fell into the room piercing through her roof.
