Gayatri Prajapati Booked Under Gangrape Case On Supreme Courts order

New Delhi: An FIR has been registered against Samajwadi Party leader Gayatri Prajapati after the Supreme Court order, who is the accused of gang-rape and sexual harassment case.

Disproving the charges of rape charges filed against him, Prajapati on Friday claimed it "as a conspiracy of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) against him in order to distract people's attention from the Assembly polls.

"It is conspiracy against me. I don't even know who the lady is. Since the government has orderd such probe, I would accepted it gladly," Prajapati said.

The Supreme Court earlier on Friday ordered registration of an FIR against Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Gayatri Prajapati in connection with a gang-rape and sexual harassment case.

The woman, who is from Chitrakoot, has alleged she was raped by Prajapati and others for two years on the pretext of getting a plum position within the Samajwadi Party. She has also alleged her daughter was sexually harassed too.

The 35-year-old women accused Prajapati of raping her when she met him three years ago.

He took some obscene photos of the victim and then threatened the women to make photos public and raped her for the past two years, according to the complaint.

The gangrape survivor had moved the apex court after the police in Uttar Pradesh did not register the FIR. Police in Uttar Pradesh must file a status report in the matter within eight weeks.

Prajapati, a close associate of Mulayam Singh Yadav, has been fileded from the crucial Amethi seat in the ongoing Uttar Pardesh election. His tenure as the Mining Minister has been under cloud and the Hingh Court has ordred a CBI probe into the allegations of wrong doing against him.
