Jaitley files another defamation case Delhi CM Kejriwal over Jwthmalanis crook remark

Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is yet another time giving a hard time to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by filing a deformation against his lawyer Ram Jethmalan for calling him a "crook" last week.

Arun Jaitley filed a case over the word "crook" used by Jethmalani , 93, while the senior lawyer was cross-examining, which was supposed to end after a verbal dual broke between the two once-close legal associates.

Angered of his remark Jaithley has slapped a Rs 10 crore case against Kejriwal.

Manik Dogra, Jaitley's lawer said, "We have filed a fresh suit for defermation against Arvind Kejriwal seeking Rs 10 crore in damages for ex-facie deformation as his lawyer Ram Jethmalani, in the open court, called Mr Jaitley a crook."

Doga said that the statement was also recorded by the judicial order, where he has stated that he used the word on "specific instructions of his client" Kejriwal.

Jaitley appeared before the Joint Registrar Deepali Sharma to ask Jethmalani whether the word was used as per instructions from Kejriwal.

To which, Jethmalani replied back saying that the word has been used by him on instructions form his client (Kejriwal). "If this is so, I would aggravate the charges against the defendant (Kejriwal)."

However, Anupam Shrivastav, advocate on record for Kejriwal since the beginning of the suit submitted that Jethmalani had no instructions to use thee word against Jaitlley.

This is the second deformation case against Kejriwal by Jaitley. Earlier, he had accused Kejriwal of damaging him over the charges levied in the DDCA case.

Jaitley had filed a criminal defamation case against Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders for allegedly defaming him in the Patiyala house Court while a civil defamation case was filed in the Delhi High Court.

Jaitley filed the suite seeking Rs 10 crore in damages after Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders in the case.
