SRINAGAR: On the second day of the ongoing operation in Jammu &Kashmir's Pulwam , three terrorists have been killed by the security forces in which three soldiers and one police official was also injured
The operation which started on Monday morning after security forces launched a search operation following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Bahmnoo area of Pulwama, police.
"There were inputs about the presence of the top Hizbul commander . Riitaz Naikoo along with his two associates in the area. The police called off the operation around 1am, said a police official.
Two terrorists were killed yesterday and the body of the third militant was recovered this morning, an official said.
Meanwhile, a police party was also attacked near police post General Bus Stand Anantnag in the afternoon by an unidentified gunmen in which a constable of IRP 16 battalion was injured, Ghulam Hassan and Sumit Kaur were injured in the incident.
The cop was later admitted to army's 92 base hospital for special treatment.
Soon after the attack the forces started search operations in and around the general bus stand area to nab the attackers.
The Central Reserve Police assisted in the operation on Monday.
Monday's operation in Pulwama came barely 10 hours after a dozens of protesters came out on the streets in Bahmanoo to help escape the militants, clashes broke out while the army was retrieve the bodies of the two soldiers killed in the operation. Also, two soldiers were injured after a grenade was fired by the militants during the procedure earlier and the forces had to cordoned off the area.
The protesters shouted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans and pelted stones at the forces who retaliated by firing live ammunition, pellets and tear smoke shell in which many of the protesters received critical injuries.
