J&K : Political parties react to Army Chief Bipin Rawats warining against stone-pelters

NEW DELHI : Political parties managed to give there worst shot by commenting about the warning issued by the Army Chief to the stone pelters in the valley. Alerted by the stone-pelters, the militants got an opportunity to fire hand-grenades and empty a few magazines from the AK-rifles into the advancing troopers, leaving three jawans dead an some others, including a Commanding officers of the CRPF, injured.

Jammu and Kashmirs National Conference spokesman Junaid Azmi Mattu described Rawat's comment as "Tragic" saying that the government should talk in the interest of the youth of Kashmir and instead approach and engage with the youth of the militancy-hit Kashmir valley.

"Mobs rushing to encounter sites should concern us and alarm us into constructive political action - NOT issuing the threat of 'no mercy'. The Government need to engage politically with the alienated youth of Kashmir - threats and warning will only compound their hostility," he said in his tweets.

Union Minister Kiran Rijiju defended the army chief saying "There should be strict actions against the stone pelters and whoever works against national interest is supreme,Gen Rawat has said that in national interest, so there is no need to misinterpret it. there is nothing wrong in the Army Chief statement."

Where as Union Chief Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office ., Jitendra Singh said that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat's statement on "tough action" in Vally was misinterpreted.He urged the political parties not to politicize his statement

"We appeal to political sections and Congress to not to indulge in any kind of politicking at cost of security forces' morale."

Another Union Minister Prakash Javedekar urged the opposition to "keep pace" with democracy and "not politicize" the armed forces. "Opposition should not politicize everything. They have raised the doubts on surgical strikes which was never done before in History (of India), Now they are reacting and politicizing an issue which they shout not be doing. So O request them to keep pace with democracy and not politicize the military", he was quoted as saying.

Whereas some were seen Criticizing Bipin Rawat's statement ,saying "Army Chief is showed his ignorance about the ground realities", in Kashmir. The separatist's party Modern Hurriyat's Leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the " It showed his (Gen Rawat's) lack of knowledge... Kashmiri youth have not taken to arms for fun nor are they made hit streets in protest but they have been forced... as the space of Kashmiris has been squeezed," the Mirwaiz said in a statement.

Meanwhile, JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik said Gen Rawat's statement was a case of "political immaturity".
