New Delhi: The Congress on Monday denied the fact President Rahul Gandhi meeting Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui in Delhi amidst the critical border situation. The party first denied and then admitted the fact about meeting the issues. Rahul Gandhi tweeted that he has the right to meet the envoy and "its my job to be informed on critical issues" – if the government believes he is wrong, it should explain why top ministers were "availing Chinese hospitality while the border issue is on."

Rahul met Chinese ambassador to discuss about the current Sino-India relations at 8:30am on Saturday, the Chinese embassy website said.

The 47-year-old leader neither confirmed nor denied meeting, built admitted as the scale of the controversy went higher.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surewala Tweeted that the report was planned by the External Affairs Ministry and Intelligence Bureau Ministry and Intelligence Bureau sources. "They should re-verify that we still have diplomatic re;lations with all neighbors."
In the evening Sujewala confirmed the reports and made a U-turn by saying, "Various ambassadors and envoys keep meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi from time to time on courtesy basis, particularly those of G5 nations as also of the neighboring countries…be it Chinese ambassador or Bhutanese ambassador or former NSA Shiv Shankar Menon," Swarat said his clarification.
But he had no explanation on why he denied in the morning. He sought to clarify that his statement was a fake news by news channels terming the meeting as "anti-national".

Later, the Chinese website , which posted on its website about the July 8 meeting between Gandhi and Luo, withdrew it.

Rahul Gandhi came out defending the party and attacked the government, asking why so muck of brouhahah was being made about the meeting while Modi went out of the way to meet Xi in his Hotel in Hamburg. "I have some questions too. If so much of a brouhaha is being made abiut it then why did Prime Minister Narendra Modi actually cross Lake Aster and go to Grande Elysee Hotel to meet with the Chinese President, specially after the Chinese had made it known that a structured bilateral meeting is not possible because of the sand off."

"What was the Minsiter of Human Resources Prakash Javedhkar doing in Beijing. What was the Cultural Moinister Mahesh Sharma doing on July 6 and 67 in Beinjing and what was union Health Minister J.P Nadda doing in China at the same time," Congress leader Manish Tiwari asked.
