Vikas Swarup appoined as Indias new High Commissioner to Canada

NEW DELHI: Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and noted novelist Vikas Swarup of Slumdog Milionare- fame will be indias high commissioner to Canada, government said on Tuesday.

Swarup is currently working as Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, will replace Arun Sahu who is currently working as acting India High Commissioner to Canada.

He is best known for his novel Q & A, adapted in film Slumdog Millionaire, the winner of Best Film for the 2009 at the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and BAFTA Awards.

Swarup joined the Indian Foreign Services (IFS) in 1986 in Turkey , The United States, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Japan in various Indian diplomatic missions.
