Tahlka news Bureau, Kolkata: India batsman, Virat Kohli,�was awarded the men�s Player of the Tournament at the conclusion of the ICC World Twenty20 2016 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. This is the second time Kohli was awarded the T20 Player of the Tournament.�In 2014 also, Kohli had been judged the Player of the Tournament in Bangladesh. Former India captain and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly collected the award on Kohli's behalf as the cricketer was unavailable. Kohli, 27, scored 273 runs in five innings with a highest score of 89 not out. He scored in a sequence of 23 vs New Zealand, 55* vs Pakistan, 24 vs Bangladesh, 82* vs Australia and 89* vs West Indies, at an average of 136.50.

Reacting to the announcement, Kohli said: �Although I�m disappointed that we were not able to make it through to the final and win the ICC World Twenty20 title on home soil, I'm proud to be named player of the tournament."

Virat also congratulated the West Indies team by tweeting.
