Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shriram Sonkar on Tuesday allegedly slapped a Traffic Home Guard of UP Police deployed for traffic over the leader wrongly using a one-way route in Hazratganj area of Lucknow. The home guard was allegedly assaulted when he stopped the MLAs SUV coming from the one-wrong side lane near Vidhan Sabaha Marg.
However, according to the report, IG Range J N Singh had directed the SSP to take action against the culprits in the case involved in a brawl that led to the slapping of Home Guard.
Earlier on April 20, a video of another BJP MLA Rakesh Rathore slapping a toll plaza employee near Bareilly had gone viral on social media. The report alleged that the MLA had been drunk and had taken matters into his own hands after the employee had allegedly disregarded him.
However, Rathore had denied all reports of the assault, "This is not me. The person shown in the video is Mahendra Yadav, a Samajwai Party leader from Biswa". Although the visuals had not been clear due to being short at night.
Earlier, Naresh Meghwal, the husband of BJP lawmaker Chandrakanta Meghwal had been involved in a fight over a traffic ticket to a BJP worker. He then stormed into a police station with a large group of people an officer ending up slapping an officer of the law.
The police official was manhandled and beaten and a complaint against Meghwal and 6 other BJP workers were registered. Chandrakanta Meghwa told reporters that her husband and other workers had been attacked and detained by the police. Meanwhile, Rajasthan minister Rajendra Rathore had said that the right to take the la into their own hands.
