Patna: Seven students of a state run Urdu school in Patna city injuries on Saturday, after a low intensity bomb blast was triggered off the school premises, 500 meter away from Khajekalan police station in eastern Patna.
The explosion occurred on the roof of an under construction building of the Urdu School around 11am, where a group of seven boys were playing, hit a ball like abject they found in the building.
The object has been suspect to an improvised 'desi' bomb.
According to the Police, four of the boys, identified as Mohammad Faizan 10, Mohammad Arman 9, Mohammad Adil 7, and Mohammad Zishan,8, received serious injuries. While, three others sustained minor injuries. All the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
The claimed to have found the ball on stairs."There was a huge sound in the classroom and the teachers panicked and called the police."
News of the bomb going off later went viral on social media, leading to panic among the parents. Soon, a large amount of parents gathered outside the school. Some parents even jumped the school boundary wall to meet their see their children.
They alleged that the school premises becomes a den for gamblers and anti-social elements during the night."Miscreants from other areas also gather on the premises after dusk and despite numerous complaints to the police, there has been no action", claimed Heena Qaiserm, a parent.
After the explosion the Patna Forensic Science Laboratory (FCL) and a bomb detection and disposal squad reached the spot.
Police suspected that the anti-social elements may have hidden the explosion in the under construction building. Patna city Deputy Superintendent of police Harimhoan Shukla reached the spot after getting the information.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said, it appears that the anti-social elements must have 'forgotten' the improvised device on the spot. The police collected samples and sent then for forensic opinion, he said
The police have registered a case against unidentified persons, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and relevant section of the Explosive Substance Act and is currently investigating the case.
